From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
